The gentle Ragdoll cat is the perfect breed if you’re after an easy-going, undemanding cat. Ragdolls, which originate from the US State of California, owe their name to the fact they become super relaxed and as floppy as a ragdoll when you pick them up. These beautiful cats love people and make a devoted family pet.

The Ragdoll is a large cat with a long, muscular body and weighs between 4.5 and 9 kg. Its large eyes are a striking deep blue colour. It has a dense coat of medium-length to long hair that is soft and silky with a ruff around the neck and a thick tail. As a pointed breed, the Ragdoll’s body is lighter in colour than the points (face, legs, tail and ears). There are three coat patterns in the Ragdoll breed and each consists of four different colours.

You can expect moderate shedding with this breed. Start your Ragdoll on a regular grooming routine early in life and it will quickly become a pleasurable experience both pet and owner look forward to.

Because the Ragdoll is such a relaxed and inactive cat, it doesn’t need much food and owners should take care not to overfeed it. They are known for being well-behaved and easy to care for.

Ragdolls, which mature at the age of three to four, are a healthy breed with an average life expectancy of 10-12 years.
