DoggieRescue has so far rescued and rehomed over 11,000 dumped pets and in doing so has seen many sad cases of cruelty. In just the few months leading up to Christmas there has been a never ending stream of terribly neglected dogs with treatable conditions coming from pounds, some of whom must have lived in pain and misery for years. We are featuring FOUR beautiful dogs whose stories need to be told. They are just a few amongst the many and at DoggieRescue we shake our heads in disgust at their previous owners and ask…

IS IT OKAY NOT  TO CARE?
NEGLECT IS ANIMAL ABUSE!

• CASSIE : Maltese x Shih Tzu 8yrs 4.1kg. Female

Cassie was in pain and a terribly neglected sad girl when she came from the pound. She had little hair, was very underweight, with mammary tumours, severe dental disease and dry eyes. It is so exciting to see how her coat has now thickened, her eyes sparkle and she can eat well after her dental. She has a very gentle affectionate nature but still has a way to go until fully recovered..

• STEVIE : Maltese x 13yrs 4.3kgs Male

Stevie is an albino Maltese. He came from the pound blind in one eye and very poor vision in the other. We had to extract many of his teeth. It is hard to imagine his stress in being dumped into a pound or his terror with the strange noises, people and smells but he survived. Stevie is a very quiet boy who does happily co-exist with other quiet dogs. A beautiful, gentle boy he is looking for that quiet loving home where he can receive one on one attention and a little bit of spoiling in these, his golden years.

Toby’s story will make you cry.

He was left at a pound by someone who wanted him put down because he was old and even refused to pay any surrender fee. How unbelievably sad is that after his years of devotion?

• TOBY: Maltese x 12yrs 5kgs Male

Toby is a sweet older boy who is just appreciative of a pat and cuddle. Needless to say he was in a very sad state when he came. After a dental, clearing eye infections, a good bath and grooming Toby has taken on a new lease of life. He is gentle with people and very social with other dogs. Toby’s hearing is not the best. Toby really deserves a chance to know the meaning of love at last and celebrate a happy Christmas.

90% OF ALL SENIOR DOGS RESCUED HAVE A LONG LIST OF MEDICAL ISSUES.

• HUEY : Chihuahua x Corgi 10yrs 5kgs Male

Huey was a sad, sad boy when he came from the pound with a very painful eye ulcer, dental disease (needing many extractions) and with his head just hung so low and he hardly moved out of his bed. His coat felt like straw. X rays showed he has been suffering from Spondylitus in the spine. He is social with other dogs and needs a family who are happy to care for a dear grandpa, who deserves all the love in the world.
